What the historical source describes
The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s 2019 Phuket booklet describes Khao Radar Viewpoint on Khao Mai Thao Sip Song, in the area of the Air Force radar station. It places the approach in Chalong and describes views towards Chalong Bay and Patong. This establishes the place behind older Radar Hill links. It does not establish that the road, station area or viewing point is open to visitors today.
Do not treat an old route as permission
Our review did not establish a current official public-access notice or visitor timetable for this location. We therefore do not provide turn-by-turn access instructions, claim that gates may be passed or advertise the station as a visitor attraction. If you are considering the hill, ask the authority responsible for the site which area, if any, visitors may use. Follow present signs and remain outside restricted or closed areas.
Decide before arranging a special transfer
An old travel article or a driver’s familiarity with a road is not the same as current permission to enter the destination. Settle the access question before paying for a trip whose main purpose is this viewpoint. If permission and a practical public route cannot be established, choose another outlook. Avoid building an outing around the hope that a closed gate will be opened or that an unofficial path can be used.
Three clearer alternatives to investigate
For the west-coast bays, read Karon Viewpoint. For a town view, consider Khao Rang. For the eastern and southern panorama, see Khao Khad at Panwa. Those places have identifiable public tourism listings, though each still needs normal date-specific checks. This page preserves the useful context behind the historical Radar Hill URL without turning uncertain access into a current promise.
