Phuket Zoo is a historical attraction
IFAW’s first-party rescue report says Phuket Zoo was closing for financial reasons and describes the 2022 transfer of tigers and bears to Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand. The destination sanctuary is in Phetchaburi, not Phuket. Do not arrange a Phuket Zoo visit from an old price list or assume the rescue destination is a nearby replacement attraction. This guide retains the topic to explain the change, without presenting the former zoo as a currently bookable outing.
Butterfly Garden and Insect World
The provincial tourism page still describes the former educational butterfly attraction in Samkong. A firsthand visitor blog, updated in March 2015, reports its closure. We found no current operator confirmation of reopening. The old description is useful historical context about butterfly life-cycle displays; it is not evidence that you can visit them now. An undated directory can remain online long after its practical information has stopped being dependable.
Choose an alternative by what interested you
For an educational visit about aquatic life, compare Phuket Aquarium and Aquaria Phuket, which are different venues. For elephants, read the observation programme guide and check the exact operator. These are different experiences, not replacements carrying the former attractions’ history. If your group mainly wants an easy day outside, a coastal walk or an unhurried Old Town outing may fit better than another animal venue.
What to do with an old booking link
Do not pay through a preserved contact number or ticket link simply because it appears in a historical itinerary. Identify a current operator, current programme and precise meeting point first. If a provider claims an old attraction has reopened under a new name, ask for evidence connecting the two rather than assuming continuity. Keep each outing centred on what is verifiable today, and leave room for a simpler alternative when the venue cannot be established.
